Making Better Presentations: What is a Conference? In-Person / Online

Part of our Fall 2023 Presentation Prep Series

Are you a new researcher looking to present on your research, or a student interested in attending a conference, but need help understanding them? Attend this workshop to learn about the structure of academic conferences.  We will discuss expectations for conference panels, how to manage technology and other issues, ways to network effectively, and strategies for engaging with comments and critiques during presentations, among other things. The workshop will emphasize practical tips and active exercises on these topics, and we encourage you to bring your questions and concerns!

The workshop will be hybrid style, with the option to attend in person or virtually on Zoom. In person attendees are also encouraged to bring personal laptops and presentation materials for hands-on editing and/or practice. Laptops are also available for checkout at the library circulation desk.

Pizza and beverages will be provided to in person attendees.
