Love Data Week: Data Rescue & Data Justice Panel In-Person / Online
The disappearance of federal data critical to research, advocacy, and policymaking has been well documented since the start of 2025. While advances in technology, including refinement of GIS tools, have facilitated the ease of data sharing and representation, political vulnerability threatens recent gains and highlights the need for more stable and secure platforms. Panelists will share their perspectives on the significance of vulnerable and disappeared federal data and highlight the work of volunteers and organizations that rescue data from scores of federal entities, such as the Bureau of Economic Analysis, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the Food & Drug Administration.
